Cabin Crew Profiles : Monika Krajcova, Founder
It has been an eventful 18 months for aviation, the world-wide uncertainty due to the pandemic has changed our everyday lives as we know it. There are however signs of a slow but sure recovery starting to show.
Countless of vaccination programs around the world are making the world a safer place and governments are carefully easing restrictions around entertainment, hospitality and travel. We have all had to adapt here at Elite Cabin Crew, today we sit with our founder, Monika Krajcova, and find out what she has been up to since our last chat in March of 2020.
ECC: Hi Monika its great to have you with us again, its been a while since our last conversation. A lot has changed since we last sat down together.
Monika: Thank you for having me again, it has been a while, it has been a very interesting time for all of us.
ECC: So what have you been up since we last sat down in March last year?
Monika: I don’t know where to start, we were made aware that we would not be flying for a while so I got the chance to go home before all of the borders closed up.
ECC: How long did you go back home for?
I went home from the middle of March to the end of June on unpaid leave and I took the time to see my family and friends. It has been a while since I last had the time to spend an extended period of time with my family and friends back home as I have been based in the middle east for the last 10 years.
ECC: By the sounds of it you have been quite busy!
Monika: I think it's important to give yourself productive things to do in adversity and to view the silver lining into any situation, so whilst it wasn’t ideal to stop working. I got the chance to work on developing my businesses as well, something which I would not have been able to do properly if I had been flying at the time.
ECC: What was the most challenging thing for you during the lockdown?
Monika: I would say that the biggest challenge was that even though I was close to my family and friends, there were many restrictions still in place so I wasn’t able to do most of the things I enjoyed doing whenever I went home like going to the gym or going to the cinema with my friends.
ECC: You went back to flying July last year, what has been the biggest change that you have seen in aviation?
Monika: The situation quickly picked up in the private sector, with Saudi Arabia being a very big country. Businesses were quite keen to get back to normality and those who would normally fly in First Class and Business Class began to switch from using airlines to flying privately on VIP.
This is specially true for multi national corporations as well as football and other sports teams, not just in Saudi Arabia but worldwide. Stricter restrictions allowed private carriers to adapt in a way commercial flyers would never be able to.
ECC: What does that mean for Elite Cabin Crew, has the business changed?
Monika: There is a lot of movement within aviation right now and companies have started to hire again, no where is this more prevalent than in the private sector. With so many private carriers in the Middle East looking for new Flight Attendants and Crew there has never been a better time to take part in our tuition courses. The competition is quite strong, with over 90% of applications being rejected without getting as far as call back stage, it is imperative that aspiring Flight Attendants do everything they can to be prepared and make sure they look a cut above the rest.
ECC: Does that mean that the company will solely focus on the VIP sector only? Monika: We like to help everyone that wants to improve their career regardless of whether they are going for a position with a private carrier or a commercial airline. We have a much higher demand in the private sector as we speak so that is where we are mainly focusing at the moment.
ECC: If I was looking to be a Flight Attendant/Cabin Crew, what advice would you give me right now?
Monika: I would tell you that we are just entering a busy period for recruitment and that now I the time to start applying for positions with airlines. I would highly advise for you to keep your CV up to date using a professional template and a professionally taken photo in business attire and that it stands out from the crowd as most applications fail at this stage. There are over 1000 applicants per position available, so you must really make a good first impression. ECC: What happens next?
Monika: The next step is always to prepare for your interviews, the answers you give in your assessment as well as how you give them decide what happens next. We always advice individuals to take a look at our Webinar video series, where we go through all the challenges and questions you will face on your journey to becoming a Flying Attendant/VIP Crew. We know the questions most carriers ask and what answers they are looking for.
ECC: Where do you see yourself in the next year?
Monika: I expect to see the demand in aviation grow, with more people being vaccinated, countries easing their restrictions and public confidence in flying returning. I also expect to see the demand for Flight Attendants and Cabin Crew to increase to meet this demand and we are already seeing a variety of airlines increasing the number of flights available.
ECC: Thank you for taking the time to sit down with us, we are looking forward to what the next year brings. Monika: It’s good to talk again, speak soon.
